First Cenomanian–Turonian temperature record from the Southern Hemisphere published in Geology

A new paper published in the journal Geology by Alex Dickson and co-authors from Oxford University, Bristol University and Yale University shows the first estimates of sea-surface temperatures from the Southern Hemisphere across one of the most profound episodes of climate change in the Phanerozoic, Oceanic Anoxic Event 2 (OAE 2).

The new research reveals that latitudinal temperature gradients were exceptional small in the late Cenomanian greenhouse world, and provide new insights into the mechanisms likely to have terminated OAE 2.
